Ingredients

  • 1 lb. harina P.A.N. (precooked white cornmeal)
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 4 cups warm water

Recipe

  • Mix water, salt and butter until combined, then add flour, mixing quickly to avoid lumps.
  • Cover with a damp towel and let rest for 10 mins
  • Portion dough into balls and press flat until ~½” thick and ~4 ½” in diameter. 
  • Brown arepas on high heat in oiled griddle
  • Finish in oven at 350C for 10-15 mins.
  • Slice open partway and stuff with your favorite fillings.
