Ingredients

  • 2 ripe plantains (soft with many black spots)
  • 2 quarts cooking oil
  • Salt

Recipe

  • Heat up cooking oil to medium high heat in large pan. To test heat, throw a small piece of plantain inside, it is ready when plantain starts frying. 
  • Cut plantains into rounds about 4 cm thick and fry until they turn golden brown. 
  • Let plantains drain excess oil over paper towels. Lightly salt to taste.

    2 quarts cooking oil
    Hard white cheese
    Salt

Recipe

  • Heat up cooking oil in large pan. To test heat, throw a small piece of plantain inside, it is ready when plantain starts frying. 
  • Cut plantains into rounds about 4 cm thick. Fry plantains until they turn golden. 
  • Let plantains drain excess oil over paper towels. 
  • With the flat of a knife squash plantains and return to fry oil until they turn golden.
  • Let plantains drain excess oil over paper towels. Sprinkle with cheese and salt to taste.
